Dr. Lori Shulman, a native Houstonian, graduated from the University of Texas and went on to the University of Houston College of Optometry where she graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 1982.
Dr. Shulman practices full-scope primary optometric eye care and specializes in pediatric optometry and contact lenses. She also has special interest in dry eye and ocular surface disease. Dr. Shulman is board certified in therapeutic optometry and the treatment of glaucoma. She participates with other physicians in the co-management of refractive (LASIK) and cataract surgery. She has been affiliated with the TSO network since 1986 and licensed to practice optometry in the state of Texas since 1982. She is fluent in Spanish.
When Dr. Shulman is not working with her eye care team, she enjoys spending time with her two sons. Her oldest is a vice president in charge of lending at Third Coast Bank and her youngest son is in his first year of law school at University of San Diego. Her husband is also an Optometrist who teaches and practices at the University of Houston College of Optometry. Dr. Shulman enjoys both working and living in Katy, Texas.
Dr. Tran grew up on the Southwest side of Houston but has had the experience of living throughout Houston. She had once lived in the Galleria Area as well as Energy Corridor and currently resides in Katy. Dr. Tran attended the University of Houston Main Campus for undergrad and graduated in 2007 with a Biology major and Chemistry minor. She then attended the University of Houston College of Optometry to graduate in 2012 (Suma Cum Laude). She has been working in the Optometry field since 2005, starting as an Optometrist Assistant but became fully invested when she started Optometry school in 2008. Dr. Tran has been wearing glasses since the third grade and was always intrigued with how the eye and vision works. She says she'll never forget how amazing it was to be able to put on glasses and see clearly for the first time and after this, knowing she wanted to help others improve their vision. Dr. Tran specializes in Glaucoma Treatment and Management, Cataract Co-Management, Lasik Evaluation, Dry Eye Treatment and treating red eyes and all contact lens complications. She also fits soft and hard contact lenses! Dr. Tran is very passionate about helping people see their best! Dr. Tran is not only fluent in English but fluent in Vietnamese as well.
In her spare time, she really enjoys reading a good book, hanging out with her family and friends and traveling with her husband, crossing places off of their Bucket List. Patches is her 3 year old Shih-Tzu, which she calls her baby, that's another joyous thing she likes to invest her spare time into!
Dr. Mona Moshtaghi is from San Diego, California and formerly attended the University Of Houston College Of Optometry. Dr. Moshtaghi has been in the Optometry field for over 8 years; COA Certified, worked in a private practice and did Glaucoma research at Shiley Eye Center in San Diego while completing her undergraduate degree at University of California, San Diego. Dr. Moshtaghi always wanted to be part of the growing field of preventative healthcare. She wants her patients to leave her office with the most positive experience. “Having the best vision possible is a wonderful feeling.” says Dr. Moshtaghi.
Dr. Moshtaghi is specializing in dry eye, ocular surface disease, and contact lenses. She has a special interest in ocular disease including diabetic care and glaucoma. She is also a part of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association.
Outside of the office, Dr. Moshtaghi thoroughly enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, playing the dulcimer (classical Persian instrument), solving Sudoku puzzles and spending quality time with her family. Dr. Zubin B Chacko was born and raised in Houston, TX. Growing up in the Alief area, Dr. Chacko was heavily involved in numerous extracurricular activities during his school years. Choral singing was extremely close to his heart during his formative years and as a result saw him competing at district, regional, and state levels. He attended Houston Baptist University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science with majors in both Biology and Mathematics. Dr. Chacko then went on to complete both an MBA and MHA at Houston Baptist University before entering the business arena. After a couple of years in the field, the prevailing economic climate and job dissatisfaction caused him to seriously consider going back to school. A helpful suggestion from his wife, a degree in science, and an internal desire to find a profession that served others made Dr. Chacko settle on the decision to go back to optometry school. He attended the University of Houston College of Optometry where he was awarded a Clinical Letter of Excellence and was also given the honor by his classmates to be their 2017 student graduation commencement speaker.
Dr. Chacko is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. His interests lie in the diagnosis and management of various retinal conditions as well as dry eye and ocular surface disease. He enjoys truly getting to know his patients and establishing relationships that help him to truly understand his patient’s exact visual needs. He can speak English and Malayalam fluently as well as conduct a very basic Spanish examination. Dr. Chacko is also a member of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association.
In his free time, you will probably find Dr. Chacko reading, watching Marvel and other superhero movies, or spending time with his immediate family and friends. He looks forward to serving you and your family at your next eye examination!

Kim has been with Texas State Optical for over 8 years now. She has been a part of the Katy Fry team since it opened in 2009. She is very knowledgeable in the field with over 18 years’ experience. She knows all the ins and outs of the Katy Fry office. Kim is very happy to help new and former patients with their eye care needs. Her career plans are to continue growing here at TSO. "It's a blessing to see some of the same patients year after year and get to know them on a personal level", says Kim. Her favorite part of her job is helping the patients as well as being around her hard working staff. Kim is determined to make all of their patients feel welcomed. Her proudest accomplishment consists of all of her hard work and how it has paid off, leading to the job offer she got as the General Manager here at our Katy Fry office! Outside of the office, Kim likes to spend time with her niece, nephews and family, enjoying the little things in life. Her favorite childhood memory is going to her grandmothers in Beaumont for Easter, having huge egg hunts in her backyard. A Brazilian lyricist and novelist, Paulo Coelho, has given a quote below that stays close to Kim's heart:

Adriana received her Bachelors of Science from U of H in 2011 and her ABOC in 2018. Her career goals are to continue to challenge herself professionally, to adapt to any and all new situations, to integrate with a great team and to continue to further her growth and success. "Knowing each day is a chance to bring out the best in me, for Katy Fry TSO's patients, fellow employees and to encourage, motivate and inspire... to help patients see better and be happy to better see what that haven't been able to see clearly before... ALL makes my job worth going to." says Adriana. Adriana contributes creativity, a positive and productive attitude, over 8 years in the optical field, 10 years in Management and her ABO certification! Her proudest accomplishment is graduating Summa Cum Laude and getting her ABO. Outside of the office, Adriana likes to spend time with her family and boyfriend, to watch movies/shows, reading and loves all types of art. Her favorite childhood memory is a family vacation to Fiesta Texas. American television personality, food show presenter, author and more... Mr. Alton Brown spoke Adriana's favorite quote below:

Joanna has a technical certificate, certifying her in medical assisting and is attending college to pursue her dreams in the medical field. "Helping people is my passion." says Joanna. Her favorite part about working for Texas State Optical is seeing the smile on patients faces after they've found the perfect pair of glasses. Joanna is very detail oriented and an exceptional helper! She can assist the patients in both English and Spanish. Her proudest accomplishment is becoming more educated and aware of humanity, in turn making her a more compassionate person. In her spare time she likes to paint, hike and explore the city. A favorite childhood memory of Joanna's is eating ice cream and playing in the dirt on a hot summer day. Her favorite quote comes from the one and only, Albert Einstein: "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new."
While exploring her horizons, Lexi assists her colleges with helping patients to the best of her abilities. Challenging herself with new obstacles on daily basis is what gives Lexi her drive. Lexi’s athletic abilities have helped her accomplish many goals such as a district champion, regional qualifier/placer and a state qualifier/placer in wrestling. Outside of the office she surrounds herself with family and when not with them she thoroughly enjoys attending music or art events. Her most memorable memory is binge watching Disney movies on VHS, while eating chocolate crispy cereal. Former professional (hall of famer), ice hockey player, Wayne Gretzky spoke Lexi’s favorite quote below:

Kimberly has great plans to further her education in the Optometry field. She would love to be an Optometrist one day. “I enjoy working up patients and getting to know them. Gaining experience in the field that I want to pursue a degree in is something I take great pleasure in!” states Kimberly. With such a positive outlook and personality, Kimberly brings a great vibe to Katy Fry Texas State Optical and the patients. One of her proudest accomplishments is winning Cross Country Regionals with her team at Butler Community College. In Kimberly’s spare time she likes to work out, play with her dog, watch Netflix as well as spend time with her family and friends. Her favorite childhood memory is the exciting visits to Six Flags she enjoyed with her mom, dad and siblings. Kimberly speaks both Spanish and English freely.
